When supplier sourcing becomes a project

You do not need another supplier database. You need relevant companies ready for an RFQ.

Supplier research becomes commercially important when a purchasing team has a specific part, assembly or production requirement and needs to turn a large, fragmented market into a manageable set of realistic candidates.

The trigger may be a second-source requirement, insufficient capacity at the current supplier, delivery or quality problems, a new industrial project, cost pressure, a European nearshoring initiative or a requirement for a particular process, material or certification.

Target Solutions manages the search from defined requirements through supplier outreach and RFQ support. The objective is not to provide a long list of company names. It is to reduce the market to suppliers that merit the buyer's time and a formal next step.

A practical sourcing workflow

What you send, what we do and what you receive

The starting point is your purchasing requirement. The amount of information available at the beginning can vary; the search criteria can be refined before supplier outreach.

You send

Provide the information that currently defines the requirement. This may include:

  • a short project description;
  • drawings, CAD files or a BOM;
  • materials and manufacturing processes;
  • dimensions or other technical constraints;
  • production volume and batch size;
  • required certificates;
  • delivery timing and qualification criteria.

We do

Target Solutions translates the requirement into supplier-search criteria, identifies potential manufacturers, carries out agreed pre-screening, contacts relevant companies and supports the request-for-quotation process.

Supplier responses can then be organised against the criteria that matter to your project rather than treated as unrelated sales replies.

You receive

You receive a structured result for the next procurement decision: relevant supplier candidates, information collected during the agreed screening and outreach, and a shortlist or comparison that makes follow-up with the most suitable companies manageable.

Where the project includes RFQ collection, available supplier responses and quotations can be brought into the comparison on an agreed basis.

Managed supplier search

How the supplier sourcing process works

The exact depth depends on the project, but the commercial workflow is designed to move from a technical requirement to a useful shortlist rather than stopping at company discovery.

Requirements

We clarify what is being sourced, the relevant processes, material, dimensions, volumes, timing, certificates and other supplier-selection requirements available at this stage.

Supplier identification

We search the Polish supplier market for companies whose apparent manufacturing profile matches the agreed project criteria.

Verification and pre-screening

Depending on scope, we check relevant company information, manufacturing capabilities, processes, publicly available certification information and other agreed qualification points.

Direct supplier outreach

We contact selected companies to confirm interest in the opportunity and collect answers to agreed pre-qualification questions before unnecessary discussions consume buyer time.

RFQ support

Where included in the project, relevant suppliers receive a consistent request for quotation so responses can be assessed against the same technical and commercial requirement.

Comparison and shortlist

We organise the available information into a structured comparison and shortlist, giving your procurement team a clearer basis for qualification, technical discussions and final selection.

What pre-screening does — and does not — mean: pre-screening helps reduce an initial market to relevant candidates. It does not guarantee quality, financial solvency, available capacity, price, delivery performance or successful project completion. Unless a separately agreed scope states otherwise, final supplier qualification and the purchasing decision remain with the buyer.
Industrial manufacturing scope

What we can source

Supplier Sourcing is intended for industrial manufacturing and subcontracting requirements. The search is defined by the project rather than restricted to one manufacturing technology.

Machining and metalworking

Examples include CNC machining, turning, milling and other metalworking processes where suppliers must be matched to an actual component or production requirement.

Sheet metal and fabrication

Searches may cover laser cutting, bending, forming, welding, fabricated parts and welded assemblies produced to buyer documentation.

Structures and industrial components

Projects can include steel structures, build-to-print industrial components, assemblies and contract-manufacturing requirements where defined technical criteria are available.

Supplier pre-screening

What can be checked before the shortlist

Checks should follow the requirements of the sourcing project. Depending on the agreed scope and information available, they may include:

  • relevant manufacturing processes;
  • materials and material-related capabilities;
  • part dimensions or production envelope;
  • production volumes and batch-size fit;
  • publicly available certification information;
  • relevant technical or application experience where it can be established;
  • location or agreed logistics criteria;
  • other technical capabilities specified by the buyer;
  • supplier interest in the particular opportunity;
  • responses to agreed pre-qualification questions.
The output

A shortlist built for a procurement decision

The value of the service is the reduction of a broad supplier market into a practical set of candidates accompanied by useful information from the search, verification and outreach stages.

  • relevant supplier candidates;
  • structured information against agreed criteria;
  • supplier interest and outreach responses where obtained;
  • RFQ responses or quotation information where included and available;
  • a comparison and shortlist for the buyer's next qualification step.

There is no standard published price. A quotation is prepared for the specific sourcing project based on its scope, technical complexity, research depth and required outreach or RFQ support.

Typical procurement situations

When this service is a good fit

Supplier Sourcing is most useful when there is a real purchasing requirement and the buyer needs actionable market work rather than general information about doing business in Poland.

You need a second sourceReduce dependence on a single manufacturer or build an alternative European supply option.
Your current supplier lacks capacity or flexibilityIdentify additional manufacturers for a defined production requirement.
Quality or delivery problems require alternativesStart a structured search without treating every company found online as an RFQ candidate.
A new product or industrial project needs suppliersMap the Polish market against drawings, specifications and purchasing requirements.
You are nearshoring or strengthening European supplyAssess Polish manufacturing options against the actual economics and requirements of the part.
You need a specific capabilitySearch by required process, material, dimensions, certificate or other technical criteria.
Your team lacks time for supplier researchMove local market research and initial outreach outside the internal procurement workload.
You need several relevant RFQ candidatesBuild a manageable comparison instead of sending enquiries to a long, weakly filtered list.
Why Poland
6%

Poland's share of the EU's value of sold industrial production in 2025, according to Eurostat.

A substantial EU manufacturing market — but supplier fit still has to be proven

Poland has been an EU Member State since 2004. Eurostat reported that Poland accounted for 6% of the EU's value of sold industrial production in 2025, placing it among the six countries that together generated 71% of the EU total.

For a buyer, market size alone is not a reason to award business. The relevant question is whether a particular Polish manufacturer can meet the process, material, quality, capacity, delivery and commercial requirements of the project. That is why the sourcing workflow moves from market identification to direct supplier-level screening and contact.

Why Target Solutions

Local research combined with procurement-oriented supplier outreach

Poland-based market work

Target Solutions Poland is based in Kraków and works with international companies. Supplier research is therefore conducted with direct access to the Polish business environment rather than as a generic global directory search.

Search criteria tied to the requirement

The process starts with what has to be manufactured. Supplier candidates can be narrowed using technical, production and qualification criteria before the buyer invests time in detailed discussions.

Research does not stop at a company list

The managed service adds pre-screening, direct outreach, RFQ support and comparison to supplier identification, giving the procurement team a more actionable result.

Self-service alternative

Prefer to search independently? Use Metal Navigator.

Metal Navigator is Target Solutions' self-service tool for searching and shortlisting Polish metalworking companies using criteria such as manufacturing processes, certificates and location.

It is designed for candidate identification. You remain responsible for contacting suppliers, issuing RFQs and completing final supplier qualification. For a managed sourcing project, use the Supplier Sourcing service above instead.

Questions before you send an RFQ

Supplier Sourcing in Poland — FAQ

What information do you need to start a supplier sourcing project?

A brief description is enough to start the conversation. Useful information may include the component or product, manufacturing process, material, dimensions, expected volume or batch size, required certificates, target timing and any supplier-qualification criteria. We can clarify which details are needed before the search begins.

Do I need to provide drawings, CAD files or a BOM immediately?

No. You can begin with a short project description. Drawings, CAD documentation, a BOM or a technical specification are useful when supplier fit depends on detailed manufacturing requirements, but they do not all have to be available for the first conversation.

Can we arrange an NDA before sending confidential technical documentation?

Target Solutions states that it can work under NDAs when required. Contact us before sending confidential documentation if an NDA is needed, so the arrangement can be agreed before technical files are exchanged.

What does supplier verification or pre-screening include?

It depends on the agreed project scope. It may include company-information checks, manufacturing capability and process checks, publicly available certification checks, direct supplier outreach, confirmation of interest, responses to agreed questions and a preliminary fit assessment. Pre-screening is not a guarantee of quality, solvency, capacity, price or delivery performance.

Do you contact the suppliers directly?

Yes, direct outreach is part of the managed sourcing workflow for selected candidates. The purpose is to establish whether the company is interested in the opportunity and to collect information needed for the agreed screening or RFQ stage. Buyer-to-supplier introductions and subsequent discussions can then proceed at the appropriate point in the project.

Can Target Solutions support the RFQ process?

Yes. RFQ support can be included in the sourcing project so that relevant suppliers receive a consistent requirement and available responses can be compared on a more consistent basis. The exact RFQ scope is agreed for the individual project.

How many suppliers will be included in the shortlist?

There is no fixed number. A useful shortlist depends on the technical requirement, the size of the relevant Polish supplier market, supplier interest and the qualification criteria. The objective is a manageable set of relevant candidates rather than an arbitrary quantity of company names.

Does Target Solutions make the final supplier selection?

Unless a separately agreed project scope explicitly states otherwise, no. Target Solutions supports identification, pre-screening, outreach, RFQ work and comparison. Final technical qualification, approval and the purchasing decision remain with the buyer.

Is the service limited to CNC machining?

No. The service is focused on industrial manufacturing sourcing and can cover requirements such as machining, metalworking, sheet metal fabrication, welded assemblies, steel structures, build-to-print components and other contract-manufacturing projects where suitable Polish suppliers can be identified against defined criteria.

What is the difference between Supplier Sourcing and Metal Navigator?

Supplier Sourcing is a managed project in which Target Solutions researches, pre-screens and contacts relevant suppliers and can support the RFQ and comparison process. Metal Navigator is a self-service application for buyers who want to search and shortlist Polish metalworking companies independently.

What if we need distributors, representatives, investors or another type of partner?

This page is specifically for industrial procurement and manufacturing supplier sourcing. Broader requirements involving distributors, representatives, investors or strategic partners belong to Target Solutions' Business Partner Search in Poland service.
